We invite current HRA members to join us for a discussion on recent Executive Orders (EOs) related to DEI and their impact on government entities, nonprofits, and the biomedical science landscape. Our speaker, Jeremy Lewin, Partner at Barnes & Thornburg, will present on the civil rights case laws on which these EOs are based and the current applicability of the EOs to contracts/grants, employment law, and other areas of interest.

Jeremy started his career as a federal investigator with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). He brings his unique understanding of the federal investigative process to his work on regulatory and compliance matters with various federal agencies, including the EEOC, Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, and Department of Health and Human Services.
Following his federal service, Jeremy was a partner at Barnes & Thornburg until 2013, serving as a litigator and counselor to for-profit and nonprofit employers of all sizes, including one of the largest private employers in the world and a host of national associations. Jeremy left to become general counsel of a large national medical association, where he served as chief legal officer for the association and its six affiliated 501(c)(3) entities. Jeremy rejoined Barnes & Thornburg in 2023 and specializes in associations and nonprofit practice.
