Program Evaluation Community Call – Introducing RAiD: A Persistent Identifier for Research Projects

    10/23/25 12 – 1PM ET – Online via Zoom Webinars

In this session, participants will learn about RAiD (Research Activity Identifier), a Persistent Identifier (PID) for research projects that is recognized as the ISO 23527:2022 international standard. Established in 2022 as an international standard for identifying, tracking, and recognizing research projects, RAiD is a new PID that can be used in addition to ORCID (for individuals), ROR (for organizations), DOIs (for publications and other resources), and Grant IDs (for awards) to more effectively track and share information about research projects. Together with other PIDs, RAiD can help organizations gain a better understanding of outputs, impact, return on investment, and relationships between various entities and funding sources across the research and scholarly communication ecosystem.

Participants will learn about RAiD’s capabilities and relevant use cases, as well as how to get involved in the ongoing NSF-funded pilot of RAiD in the US, led by the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) at the University of California San Diego, in partnership with Lyrasis (home of the ORCID US Community consortium). Participants will be asked to share feedback about the potential usefulness of RAiD by funding organizations in the US.
