Since Cindy Brinker Simmons founded Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer (WOKC) in 1980, we have been working relentlessly for a day when cancer is no longer a threat to any child. We take pride in working on our three major initiatives to achieve this mission:

• Buddy Bag Program

WOKC has partnered with three children’s hospitals in the DFW area – Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Cook Children’s, and Medical City Children’s Hospital, to provide Buddy Bags – rolling suitcases filled with over 30 comfort items including toiletries, electronics, games, and toys – given to all children with cancer admitted to those hospitals for overnight stays. WOKC has recently partnered with The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

• Warrior Families Program

WOKC provides children with cancer and their families opportunities to attend numerous fun events throughout the year, including sporting events, a summer camp, holiday parties, and more! These events allow our Warriors and their families an opportunity to connect with others and to share challenges and victories in their battle against cancer.

• Research Program

WOKC focuses on funding novel pediatric cancer research projects nationwide. We carefully select innovative research studies that might not receive traditional funding but will advance treatments with fewer side effects and help increase survival rates. To date, WOKC has funded over $7 million in pilot research, including over $510 thousand funded in 2021, that has yielded over $22 million in additional grant money from the National Cancer Institute and other significant cancer-funding organizations.
