Gene Editing Workshop: (FDA New Frontiers in Science Distinguished Lectureship Program)

In November 2016, HRA sponsored a workshop at the FDA entitled “Gene Editing: FDA-Regulated Technologies and Applications.”  The keynote speaker was  Jennifer Doudna and her talk was titled “CRISPR-Cas Genome Engineering: Biology, Technology and Ethics.”

Four short years later, Dr. Doudna and her collaborator, Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier, received the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.  We would like to celebrate that accomplishment by re-releasing the summary of the Gene Editing Workshop which also included presentations by J. Keith Joung, Matthew Porteus, Joseph Tector, and Paul Nakata.

HRA sincerely appreciates the Burroughs Wellcome Fund’s support for developing this summary (both the pdf and hard copy pamphlets which were mailed to HRA members).  HRA also thanks BWF, the Donaghue Foundation, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, and JDRF, who all provided support for various aspects of the HRA-FDA New Frontiers in Science Distinguished Lectureship Program.
