Inventory of HRA Members Professional Development Strategies for awardees/alumni

Many HRA members provide mentoring, networking and other professional development opportunities and keep their awardees and alumni engaged with the mission of the organization. The google sheet found on the Members Only Documents page is an inventory of those strategies. If your opportunities aren’t listed please add them!  It is very helpful for HRA members to see what has worked and what hasn’t.

Examples include:

  • Helping grantees with the challenges that come with being in the early-career space (ie. grant writing, job search, startup negotiations, science communication to different audiences, finance/budgeting, conflict management, etc.)
  • Alumni networks
  • Grantee meetings
  • Mentoring programs (with and without alumni involvement)
  • Bringing in outside experts (such as the Alan Alda Center) or create training courses with specific goals
  • Creating brochures, and online resources, or tools
