Call for Nominations: 2025 Board Election The Health Research Alliance (HRA) is seeking at least two new dynamic leaders to serve on the HRA Board of Directors beginning in 2026. All qualified applicants for the Board of Directors will receive consideration for nomination without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. Any employee (or consultant) of an HRA member organization may be nominated for the Board of Directors, with a term beginning January 2026 and lasting for three years. HRA members may self-nominate or nominate another member. There is no limit to the number of nominations an HRA member may submit. As a member-based organization, HRA relies on the Board of Directors to support the strategic plan in an advisory role, leveraging complementing skills and experiences across a range of member backgrounds. See a list of current board members here. Following nomination, all candidates will be asked to complete a questionnaire with candidate statements. In evaluation of candidate statements, the Nominating Committee will consider several factors including:
- Engagement in HRA activities either currently or in the recent past (newly engaged members with fresh perspectives are welcome!)
- Willingness to serve for a minimum of three years. Board members are eligible for a second three-year term.
- Ability to serve on board committees or as an Officer if called upon, subject to availability and professional commitment.
- Passion for supporting the mission of HRA.
To support HRA’s strategic objectives as outlined in the 2021 Strategic Plan, the Nominating Committee will also consider additional factors including:
- Candidate’s familiarity with the HRA strategic plan and willingness to build on and support its success.
- Candidate’s expertise in relation to existing board expertise in areas such as finance, communications, open science, evaluation, HRA infrastructure (HRA Analyzer or HRA Open), or increasing equity in the biomedical research ecosystem.
- Candidate’s ability to help broaden HRA’s revenue stream (e.g., identify grant opportunities, in-kind donations, or other sources of revenue).
The lack of diversity in the health research workforce excludes important perspectives that are necessary for advancing discovery and solving disparities in health outcomes. We seek to ensure the Board’s diversity both with respect to individual representation as well as organizational representation to ensure all perspectives are included. The nomination process is simple! Please nominate yourself or colleagues by submitting a name to this LINK. The deadline for submitting nominations is October 8, 2025. Special thanks to the Nominating Committee for leading the nomination and election efforts for the HRA Board of Directors! Feel free to reach out to me with any questions about the Board of Directors nomination and election process at [email protected]. Thank you,
