How to Build Mentoring and Community Support Platforms To Support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion In Your Scientific Network [HRA Members Meeting, Virtual, Spring 2022]

Early-career investigators (ECI) require mentoring to succeed to their fullest potential and make it over the ‘career valley of death.’ Since diversity increases the strength of innovation, nonprofit funders may be considering setting up specifically-focused mentoring/training/support programs forblack, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) or other marginalized early-career investigator (ECI). The panel discussion from DEI experts in academia,  government and non-profit space did not only give insights into their platforms and programs, they also gave advice on “what to do and what not to do” when you set up a program, and how to determine the short term versus longer term goals.
