Dear HRA Members, Once again, HRA and HRA member organizations were challenged with uncertainty and anxiety about what we should be doing in the “here and now,” but also how to prepare for the future. But once again, we all rose to the challenge. We collected data, provided resources and opportunities to learn from each other, and shared successful strategies on a wide range of topics from COVID-19 responses to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. We also completed HRA’s new Strategic Plan, which will be very helpful in prioritizing activities that can help achieve both HRA’s and your missions.... read more →

The presentation will include not only how funders changed their grantmaking strategies, but also the impact on remote work, and operational issues at HRA member organizations. Please join us for this presentation and hopefully a robust discussion of how we can incorporate what we have learned from this experience to increase our resiliency. Also, should HRA... read more →

In June, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation led an effort (with the help of the Children’s Tumor Foundation and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation) to identify ways to help raise awareness about the short- and long-term impacts of reductions in funding from non-profit grant funders. The C&CF staff developed a survey for HRA members and created the report from the data submitted by 25 members. As a reminder, HRA does have a listserv for Fundraising Professionals. As grantmakers, we often grapple with how to specifically demonstrate the impact of our research investment. Effectively explaining the return-on-investment from funding research is critical to our mission, as donors become increasingly interested in realizing the importance of their donations. This session explored how platform-based tools can be used to visualize the impact of research funding. Guiding the session were speakers who have successfully used such tools to tell their impact stories. Speakers shared the results of their work, while also discussing how they achieved the creation of deliverables to share with donors, their Boards, and/or the public. Likewise, they... read more →
